Academy’s goal

The Czech healthcare system is a unique healthcare system that, like the Czech Republic itself, straddles the divide between west and east. We have succeeded in applying the Germanic Bismarck system with all its social benefits, but have also taken on its old-fashioned and narrow-minded approach. For 20 years we have enjoyed life after the fall of the iron curtain and, while we have collected experiences from Western Europe, as well as countries on the other side of the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans, we have tried to force parts of these into regions that have had a completely different historical experience. On the other hand, we also have top-quality and highly educated experts and a widely accessible modern healthcare system, capable of offering public healthcare participants a wide range of services at an exceptionally low price.

Increasing Awareness of Healthcare Issues and New Challenges

We know that, in order to maintain a high level of healthcare and a modern approach to public solidarity, we need to introduce reforms like everyone in the modern world. However, introducing reforms is risky and experience from overseas and from neighboring states, including our own, has shown that any attempt to implement change is dangerous for politicians and onerous for the medical sector. On the other hand, they know that reform is essential, and, like any change, it is accompanied by both hopes and fears. The task that lies before us is to broadcast information and to try to circulate it among the healthcare community as well as to the general public. Connecting local and foreign professionals is a good method of communicating objective data.

Propagating Management Skills

Similarly to certain other developed European countries, sufficient medical capacity exists in this region, which leads to increased pressure of competition. For a team, organization, group of providers, a producer or a distributor to be successful, it not only needs expert knowledge, but also management skills. Not only private enterprises, but also organizations owned or managed by the state, the regions or districts are competing for over ten million public health insurance clients and a healthcare budget amounting to over 250 billion crowns.

The Academy has set itself the goal of offering management staff at all levels the information, knowledge and skills they need to succeed in this arena and to avoid marring their efforts to provide a high quality service or product by making m§istakes in the area of economic or personnel management, marketing or through insufficient knowledge in areas of the law and market principles.
